Fun Photography Session in Fort Myers, Florida – Featuring Downtown Backdrops

When former senior rep, Joy, issued me a challenge, I couldn’t resist. She invited me to meet her in downtown Fort Myers for a quick 1/2 hour session—with one twist: I wasn’t allowed to use any of the locations I’ve photographed in before.

Sounds easy, right? Not exactly! Downtown Fort Myers has a handful of tried-and-true spots (like the iconic black gate you'll see pictured below) that I love to use because they always deliver. But this challenge pushed me to skip those favorites and look at the area with completely fresh eyes—and honestly, I’m so glad I did. It reminded me that even familiar places still have new stories to tell when you’re open to seeing them differently.

We wandered, explored, and played with new angles and hidden corners. It was the kind of creative spark that every photographer needs from time to time—and we had a blast doing it.

For our final shot of the day, Joy changed into her Florida State University shirt, and we captured a few celebratory pictures in her prospective college gear.
